Posted by Amy on May-13-2008 Well, I’ve finally come to the point in my life where it’s time to stop the insanity of having boxes and boxes and boxes (and boxes) of fabric that isn’t being used. Add to this, boxes and boxes of yarn!!  My friends, even though Felicity is now officially crocheting and I plan to begin teaching her to sew (she’s finally begged me enough!), there’s still no way I’ll ever use up all the “stash” of fabric and yarn I have stowed away in boxes. 2008-05-13 16:33:06 PDT http://technorati.com/search/crazyforthecountry.com/2008/05/13/fabric-and-yarnoh-my/ 0 0 Crazy for the Country Sirdar Blur http://www.makesandcreates.co.uk/?p=25 http://www.makesandcreates.co.uk/?p=25 Sun, 30 Mar 2008 14:23:17 -0700 Sirdar Blur March 30th, 2008 Ages ago I bought 5 balls of Sirdar Blur in a lovely kina inky purple colour (they say Indigo), they were bought after seeing a pattern in a knitting mag for a lovely jumper. I’ve never got round to starting the jumper so I thought rather than the yarn just sitting there I’d try and make something, ut what? Then I read on someones blog that on Ravelry you can type in a type of yarn and it will find all the patterns and projects related to it - genius! C. Escher's Relativity. I never actually did that, but I did put together a neat study model of the scene, out of folded graph paper (and a bit of cardboard for support). I've just posted a picture of it on my sculptures page. If you're modeling this scene yourself, this picture could be a useful reference. It's pretty accurate, though perhaps not exact. I'm glad those guys made that: now I don't have to. (I started planning a model of Relativity years ago, but never started building it. It's a tempting subject because it's recognizably Escher but isn't actually physically impossible to build; furthermore Escher pretty obviously designed it using a sort of 3-D grid, so it translates well to LEGO or similar systems.
