Well, after endless ranting and frustration, I have finally moved my blog off of the DreamHost servers and over to Media Temple. So far, I’m quite impressed with their service but it remains to be seen on how they hold up when a post goes popular on a social bookmarking site. Phusion Passenger llega a Dreamhost

Dreamhost al fin llega a una posible solución para implementar sitios creados con Ruby on Rails bajo hosting compartido. La solución al parecer es Phusion Passenger una pequeña aplicación que se encarga de configurar Apache y otras cosas para que el setup de un nuevo sitio sea indolora. La forma de activarlo es mediante el panel de control de dominios, creas un nuevo dominio y seleccionas “Ruby on Rails passenger (mod_rails)”. Today, there was an announcement about Dreamhost, having the new Passenger (mod_rails) feature ready for use with Ruby on Rails applications.  The full announcement is here.  It should be changing the way Rails applications are deployed, making it much easier.

O pessoal da Dreamhost anunciou hoje que todos clientes tem suporte para o mod_rails.  Resolvi migrar esse blog para o mod_rails, então, se alguma coisa de estranho aparecer por aqui, me avisem, pode ser isso. :)  Espero que o blog fique mais responsivo do que antes e não caia tanto também.  Boa sorte pro pessoal da Dreamhost e que eles possam resolver o ‘maior’ problema deles e de outros SharedHosts. :)

Last night The Broad Brush moved to self-hosting mode.  It is now hosted at Dreamhost and running WordPress 2.5.1.  There were minimal issues moving to the new platform but all of the posts, pages and comments made it.  I’m looking forward to enjoying the site more as the blog publisher and hopefully you’ll enjoy it more too.  The feed has been shifted here, no need to change a thing if you subscribe via Feedburner.   For everyone else, the blog is now at http://toddrjordan.com/thebroadbrush.

The following is how I install Redmine on Dreamhost  From the Dreamhost control panel, create a new subdomain for the application such as yoursubdomain.yourdomain.com  Make sure the domain supports “FastCGI” Specify your web directory: /home/username/yoursubdomain.yourdomain.com/public  you must add the public!!! Depois de ter sido ownado pelo host e passar quase todo o domingo e praticamente metade da segunda em slow motion, o site parece ter voltado ao normal.  Eu mal tava conseguindo logar no blog, postar algo então, impossível.  E devido a essa impossibilidade de escrever pra vocês, fiquei hoje na fábrica praticamente o tempo inteiro ouvindo a conversa de TODAS as mulheres do setor, que num espaço de 40m² conseguem soltar do mais agudo chiado de voz até risadas equivalentes à de um Coringa entor


Change theme to improve user experience

I changed the theme of this Blog.   The purpose is to make it display faster and looks clear.  I removed some gadgets on the side column. Change the color to emphasize the good stuffs I recommend.  I also add a Google search to replace the search provided by Movable Type.   I received email from my Hosting provider, Dreamhost. It said my load is over the limit.   mt-search.cgi has one of the biggest problems.  Spammer is so strong. I have to stop using mt-search.  Anyway, Google Search is good.
