Did you know that while we (moms) might get “Momnesia” for a while after giving birth, but we actually get smarter? According to a report done a few months ago they have discovered that not only do we get smarter but giving birth also lowers our risk of cancer. Better hide this finding before the hubby tells me I should have another. You know what I'm talking about. You walk out of the mall and can't remember where you parked your car. Or worse, you get in your car and can't remember where you're going. Or the very worst: you call someone on the phone, and before they can pick up, you forget who it is you're calling and what you're calling about. It's called "Momnesia," and according to scientists, it's the perfectly normal result of sleep deprivation combined with the most stressful job in 2008-03-16 11:43:00 PDT http://technorati.com/search/workathomemomrevolution.blogspot.com/2008/03/do-you-have-momnesia.html 178 208 Momnesia: Feeling forgetful way more than normal? If so, you are one of many mothers who are suffering from the new buzz word, “momnesia!”  It may sound funny talking about it now, but at the time it might have even been frightening. Doctors believe the cause is a combination of things.  Pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and stress all cause an ebb and fl 2008-03-06 17:07:18 PST http://technorati.com/search/beginnerbaby.com/blog/index.php/are-you-suffering-from-momnesia/ 5 5 Beginner Baby Blog (Vladimir) Putin on the Ritz http://metallicpea.wordpress.com/2008/03/06/vladimir-putin-on-the-ritz/ http://metallicpea.wordpress.com/2008/03/06/vladimir-putin-on-the-ritz/ Thu, 06 Mar 2008 15:38:58 -0800 ‘A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.’  ~ Proverbs 18:24 Two of my good friends—Kevin and Jon—took me out for lunch to celebrate my birthday on Tuesday and I really enjoyed it. I'm sure all of us have experienced some form of the dreaded mommy brain or what researchers now call "Momnesia". I chuckled at the segment this morning on the Today Show because more often than not I have experienced a total brain lapse. It explains a phenom some call momnesia: From USA today : While researchers say they can’t explain all the ways motherhood affects a woman’s memory, they agree there’s a pattern. Like Massingill, many moms feel mentally foggy in the days after delivery. The blame lies with my children. Just one more reason to say, “You did this to me!” As if it weren’t enough my thighs and waist grew exponentially after the second child, never to go back to their pre-baby size again. I finally remembered where my cell phone was. It had been missing since 3 pm on Wednesday when I put it in a safe spot-- a dining room chair-- while I was straightening up. Of course it was such a "safe" spot, that I couldn't find it. And not only that, I had silenced the ringer because of nap time, so calling myself was useless. Does this ever happen to you? I do so subconsciously, hardly noticing as I minimize the total exhaustion that has overtaken my body. I catch myself telling people “It’s a blast being with Lily, the days just fly by.” Of course, moms out there know the truth - no 2 year old is a “blast” 24 hours a day.
