DESCRIPTION;CHARSET=UTF-8:Bank CEO and Former NAC President Opens Art Exhibit \n\n NORMAN – McClain banker-turned artist Don Sherman will open his vibrant exhibit\, Expressions of Color\, at the Norman Arts Council Gallery from October through November. \n\n A banker of 51 years\, Don Sherman knows his way with numbers. However\, after a dinner with friends\, he realized numbers weren’t the only thing that sparked his interest. A friend at dinner was an artist and Sherman asked about how she created her paintings. She replied\, “You just dip a brush in paint and express yourself on canvas.” Ever since\, Sherman has been doing just that - expressing himself through his beautiful\, color-filled paintings. \n\n Sherman says\, “Painting relaxes me and I like being with artistic people.” Those ‘artistic people’ include Carol Armstrong\, Carol Beasley and the late Kay Orr\, all with whom he has studied with. Currently\, Sherman is studying at the Firehouse Art Center in Norman with Carol Armstrong. “Don's paintings\, spirit and personality brighten up my classroom. He paints with his acrylics\, his wonderful sense of humor and creativity to create canvases that burst with color\,” Armstrong says. \n\n Sherman’s paintings convey brilliant shades of color and add life to the canvas. Most of the paintings are floral images exploding with color that strike the eye with beauty. Sherman grasps the intricate designs of flowers and impressionism of the floral element of nature. He is a colorist that knows how to best bring out the vibrancy of nature in his designs. \n\n There will be a reception for his gallery on October 24\, from 7-9 p.m. at the NAC. Sherman’s art exhibit will run from now until November\, so stop by the NAC Gallery\, 210 E. Main\, Suite 223\, to view these marvelous “Expressions of Color.” \n\n\n\n\n\n
