DESCRIPTION;CHARSET=UTF-8:The Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition today announced 17 Tulsa artists in 10 studios will open their doors for the sixth Tulsa Art Studio Tour. Visitors can get a glimpse into the creative process and see art in action April 12th – 13th from noon until 5 p.m each day. \n\n “Taken as a whole\, local art communicates the flavor of where we live and an easy familiarity with it can be very satisfying\,” said Committee Co-Chair Cathy Deuschle. “I hope this tour helps deepen ties between Tulsa artists and the community and increases awareness of the richness and variety of homegrown art in Tulsa.” \n\n For art lovers\, such access to the inner workings of artists is a rare opportunity to see the other side of the canvas. Visitors will have the chance to talk with artists\, view and buy artwork\, and see art being made. The tour is self-guided and sponsored by the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition. Many of the studios are within walking distance and some of the artists share space. \n\n The artists range from photographers to painters to beadmakers\, representing a variety of stages in their art careers. Tour artists include W. Maurice Clyma\, woodturning\; Mikey Coy\, ceramics\; Elizabeth Downing\, photography\; Janet Duvall\, pastels\; Annette Ellis\, oil painting\; James and Yiren Gallagher\, painting and printmaking\; Shan Goshorn\, photography and painting\; Lou Hodgson\, oil painting\; Mark Lackey\, oil and watercolor\; Sharyl Landis\, mixed media and beadwork\; Darshan Phillips and Aaron Whisner\, painting and graphic design\; Renee and Robert Reed\, painting\; Tom Richardson\, oil painting\; and John Walton\, painting. \n\n A kick-off celebration and exhibit will be held at the Circle Cinema\, 10 S. Lewis\, on Thursday\, April 3rd from 5-8 p.m. This event is free and open to the public\, and guests will have a chance to see examples of artwork from artists on the tour\, meet the artists\, purchase tour tickets and bid on celebrity collaborative artwork. This exhibit runs from April 3rd – May 27th. \n\n Tickets to the tour include a map and are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
